Two women contest the future of a kingdom in Akka. Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte lead the YRF Entertainment series, which Netflix and its producer scheduled to premiere on 30 October 2026.
Written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, the story takes place in Pernuru, a fictional setting whose institutions and power structures have been shaped by women. YRF places the drama in the 1980s.
Who controls Pernuru?
Netflix identifies Suresh’s character as Bhavani and Apte’s as Rudra. Their competing ambitions put inherited authority, personal loyalty and family interests into conflict. Tanvi Azmi is among the principal cast, alongside Mahesh Manjrekar, Anshuman Pushkar and Monica Panwar.
These are details from the official campaign. They explain the premise without pretending that a trailer establishes how successfully a complete series develops its characters.
The genre question
The interesting test is what changes when women already hold authority in a crime story. Rather than making their arrival in a male institution the only point of interest, this premise allows questions about succession, obligation and the costs of protecting an existing order.
That offers viewers something specific to assess: do the rivals have distinct beliefs and choices, or does the spectacle do most of the work? A verdict requires watching the series, not simply repeating its publicity.
